Common RV Lock Problems
Bauer paddle handles wear out after 3-5 years of road vibration. The spring inside the handle weakens and the door will not latch securely. We replace Bauer handles for $65 to $85 installed. CH751 locks are cheap and easy to pick — every RV owner on the road has the same key. We swap these out for keyed-different cylinders. FIC locks corrode in coastal air around Bodega Bay and Jenner. Salt fog eats the pins. We clean or replace them depending on condition.
RV Lock Upgrades Worth Doing
Replace CH751 utility locks with keyed-different cylinders — $35 per lock. Add a deadbolt to the main entry door if your RV only has a latch — $85 installed.
